IT'S A JUNGLE IN THERE:
RAINFOREST CAFÉ, A WILD PLACE TO SHOP AND EAT®

Houston, Texas - OCTOBER 18, 2002

HOUSTON - Adventure is the specialty of the house at the Rainforest Café restaurants, with 25 locations across the country and 10 overseas. Whether patrons pull up a chair next to frolicking monkeys or enter during a simulated rainstorm, they will be amazed and amused by the many surprises in store.

Locals and visitors to the restaurant will be treated to a feast for all the senses. The sights, sounds and aromas of a tropical rainforest are recreated through creative and detailed use of décor, animatronics and special effects. Lush vegetation, larger-than-life Banyan trees, cascading waterfalls, majestic rock formations, shooting stars and changing constellations, tropical music, cool mists and simulated rain storms, complete with thunder and lightning fill the facility.

Whimsical butterflies, trumpeting elephants, playful primates, snapping crocodiles, slithering snakes and other indigenous wildlife inhabit this authentic rainforest environment.

Beyond the state-of-the-art creatures and special effects, Rainforest Café also has plenty of real tropical creatures inside. Giant-sized saltwater aquariums are home too 300 fish, representing more than 25 species from around the world. A full-time curator and staff of animal-care specialists tend to these residents' every need.

The menu offers plenty of choices to satisfy anyone's appetite while dining at the Rainforest Café. Appetizers include Coastal Calamari; Leaping Lizard Lettuce Wraps; and Awesome Appetizer Adventure, which is ideal for two or more and features a sampler of four of the favorite appetizer selections, including Chimi-Cha-Cha, Big Blue Crab Delight, Crispy Chicken Tenders and Coastal Calamari.

Dinner selections range from Rasta Pasta, grilled chicken with walnut pesto and vegetables; to Tuscan Chicken, balsamic and tomato marinated char-broiled chicken breast with red skinned garlic mashed potatoes in a chive mustard sauce; Jungle Chops, two 8 oz. center-cut pork chops with Caribbean rice and Napa Vegetable Slaw; and Tree Top Filet, a 9 oz. center-cut, aged tenderloin with grilled portabello mushroom, red skinned garlic mashed potatoes and Napa Vegetable Slaw. Seafood selections include Congo Catfish Plate and Tribal Salmon. For Journey's End, Rainforest Café creates signature sweets such as Sparkling Volcano, a rich chocolate brownie cake served warm with vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream and caramel and chocolate sauces.

With ample seating for many guests, Rainforest Cafe is well-equipped for private corporate parties, birthday celebrations or other special events. And there is more than great fun and food. Rainforest Café actually puts the earth-friendly theme into practice. Free programs help educate the public about the world's rainforest, threatened and endangered species, and conservation efforts to protect the planet's fragile ecosystems. The curator and staff share their expert knowledge with guests throughout the day.

On-site tours also are available for schools, businesses, charitable organizations and other groups. Tracy the Talking Tree - just one of the impressive animatronics - who resides in the Rainforest Café Retail Village, educates and entertains guests with environmental messages every 30 seconds.

Rainforest Café also provides a unique shopping experience. The Retail Village offers an exclusive line of clothing featuring the eight "Wild Bunch" animal characters, and a wide variety of rainforest theme items, many under the Rainforest Café private label, such as home accessories, jewelry, bath products, educational tools, food, games, puppets and toys.

Rainforest Café is open daily. The Retail Village opens at 10 a.m., Monday through Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and stays open until the restaurant closes each night.
